An hotmelt adhesive should comply with the requirements of application conditions where it is used. For example; fast self-curing is a difficulty in high packaging speeds. Applications and Products
Cartons and Foldable Boxes - Citrus (carton cases) and Industrial Boxes
Carton fixing adhesives should be suitable to work in high speed machinery systems. Adhesives, at the same time, should have superior hot-adhesion (hotmelt) and fast self-curing times. It should adhere to lacquered and non-lacquered surfaces. It should has hot resistance time to time for hot filling processes, or cold/frost resistance for deep freezer applications.
Deep Freezer
The adhesives used in deep freezing applications should have cold tolerance value in high level, that is to say they should resistive against long-term freezing temperatures as well as shock cooling. Products of this class should also be suitable for clean pass in high-speed machines. These products should be adaptable to all applications in package production, from final carton closing process to palleting phase.
Carpet Edge Agglutination
With its advantages and effective solutions for agglutination of eaves and lacinias of carpets and rugs of which surfaces are hard-to-handle, it offers product choice according to the needs of customers.
Pipette Agglutination
Adhesives used to fix the sticks have to meet various requirements of this special application. Adhesive should be adaptable to OPP sheets and PE sheets. Surface of the case/container (whether pretreated or not), and use of various inks and press methods should also be considered. This adhesive should flow without any filaments regardless of type of application it is being used. It should also be FDS certified, and should sometimes has a high resistance level against cold conditions.
Cover Agglutination
To fit a sealed and self-closing device on beverage packages in a packaging line requires ability to meet special requirements. Firstly, adhesive material -as wet as possible- should be able to adhere on polypropylene cover and PE-covered carton (whether pretreated or not) or on pressed surfaces. It should work clean and smoothly in current machinery while it adjusts itself to changes in speed and temperature. Adhesive material should demonstrate optimum performance in temperatures between 0°C and 50°C. It should have FDA/BGvV certification regarding the cases where it contacts food directly. In order to respond these requirements, Henkel has developed special products which has, at the same time, enough force to resist against repeated openings & closings of the cover.
Chocolate Wrapping
Adhesives used to wrap chocolates should be usable in high speed packaging machines. It should flow smoothly under such high speeds, and should be applicable as clean points.
Sack Sealing
Sack sealing process is required when packaging flowable materials such as flour, sugar and other similar powder materials. Adhesive material being used should resist against high temperatures and high memory forces. In general, white adhesive products are preferred.
